Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby look they’re in high gear now. Both recorded hat tricks last week and the time to acquire either in a trade may have past. Marc-Andre Fleury could be back in goal anytime now, as he practiced over the weekend without restrictions.

Brian Rolston should return this week for the Devils, don’t forget to activate him if you normally would.

Josh Bailey played in his 10th game for the Islanders, so he will remain with the team and not report to the OHL. The Isles need all the offense they can get.

Alexei Kovalev has been reunited with Robert Lang with the hope that this will ignite Kovalev’s offensive potential.

Ales Kotalik returned for Buffalo on Monday, for now he will play on the fourth line, but that will only be until he’s back in game shape.

Brian Burke is the new GM of Toronto. You have to wonder why he would want that job. Anaheim is a solid team with more than a few good players. I’m not sure if Toronto even has one.

Much like Sidney Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin has picked up his play of late. This must come as a relief to many of his owners as he was off to a slow start.

Cam Ward suffered a lower body injury on Sunday, and as of now, there has been no word on how long he will be out for. Michael Leighton will start in his place.

Roberto Luongo skated in practice on Monday, but took no shots.  He is considered week to week, but it looks like he could be back sooner rather than later.

Ilya Kovalchuk skated on the fourth line for Atlanta over the weekend. One has to wonder if he will remain a Thrasher after the trading deadline. Might be a good time for the Thrashers to deal him and get as many players as possible in return. They are a bad team, and Kovalchuk is not enough to turn them around.

Thomas Holmstrom should return this week from his back injury.

If you’re a Chris Osgood owner, you have to wonder if Ty Conklin is going to take over his job. Osgood may win games, but he’s not pretty while doing it. His GAA and save percentage numbers are ugly.

Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp have been playing together recently and Chicago seems to like it that way.

Joe Sakic reinjured his back and there is no timetable for his return as of now.
